Why Did You Long SMS 160 Character Limit?

Why Did You Long SMS 160 Character Limit?

BOOMZ77-Daily LA Times did a little investigation to trace the history of the 160-character SMS and finally managed to find the person most responsible for: Friedhelm Hillebrand. This poor German man did not become rich by developing a standard SMS, but he is a man who was behind the restriction.

In 1985 he sat in front of his typewriter and tried to investigate the maximum length of a text message. He wrote a few sentences and found that he always uses under 160 characters. He then set the number 160 as magic numbers, and impose new standards on any GSM carrier. He could do so because of his position as head of the nonvoice services committee of the Global System for Mobile Communications Group in 1986. Indeed, this story has been rolling decades ago, but the repercussions are still felt to this day.

Today we are still stuck with a 160-character limitation of the "Miracle" was and is constantly looking for new ways to combine and condense the words so that we can adapt to the restrictions.(vata)
